Latest input - Wiki - Wysiwig - Rich Text Editing

I have found some, years old, links to similar discussions, but wanted to
see what the current status on a recommended wiki with a reliable rich
text editing, WYSIWYG integration.
Requirements: 1) wiki with a reliable rich text editing, WYSIWYG
integration. 2) Must be able to run on a shared server running website.
I have been experimenting and had hope for working with previously
recommended foswiki, or mindtouch core (no longer available - only
suporint mindtouch cloud). I was told that I may have some retrictive
issues when trying to run foswiki (perl) based on limited administrative
access on my shared server (hostgator). I am wondering if I might have
problems with similar java, python implementations.
I have gone ahead and tried experimenting with hostgator quick installs,
mediawiki, wikkawiki(possible wysiwig support), pmwiki(poor wysiwig
support). Finally mediawiki showed some basic compatibility with ckeditor
so I thought I would try this out. I was able to successfully install the
editor, and then was able to finally install a browser and uplaoder. I was
impressed with the overt functionality, but as I started working with I
have been having bug after bug only to fix and find a new bug. After
spending the last week trying to mediawiki to run with ckeditor reliably I
am near to giving up. I have seen that there maybe something reliable
coming with visualeditor for mediawiki, but it is in experimental status
and the functionality does not look very good.
I fear the same process of long setup and buggy and unreliable results in
trying to install a wysiwig on some of the above mentioned wikis. Rather I
thought that I would seek some advice to see what others might have
decided to use in similar cases?
Thanks!
